9's A Pair
Performing on the Main Stage Saturday August 16th, from 9-11pm

The band “9’s a Pair” was formed with the members of Denver Fire Station 9 in Denver, Colorado. As we
were talking we realized that we had a considerable amount of musical talent and had a little jam session
that turned into a hard driving Classic Rock and Blues band. We utilized our evenings playing music instead of watching television. The group was named because that is how both of the fire trucks are dispatched to an
emergency. Our dispatchers say, “9’s a Pair respond to a house fire at 123 Main.” Rick Montrose (younger
brother of the legendary guitarist Ronnie Montrose), Ron Weber has been played in the Denver area for many
years playing with such bands as Gypsy and Basteel, Paul Kaaren is the only non-firefighter in the group
playing and toured with Ron Weber, and played with the progressive jazz group Tsunami, Dan Oliver is a
powerhouse player who keeps the band solid, and Reef Abbott is “Mr. Soul” with his hard charging vocals
and solid bass playing.
